Collins Ranch Wedding
Kate + Danny tied the knot with their romantic + fun Collins Ranch wedding in Ojai, California and we were there to capture every emotional word and bubbling cheers! We captured the wedding of Kate’s sister a few years ago and it was so special to be invited back to capture their family again. There’s truly no greater honor than a client loving their photography experience so much, they refer you to their friends and especially, their family. We actually found six of our past clients in the guest crowd, which is a total record and was SUCH a blast.
Can we take a moment for Kate’s dress?! When she started shopping, she really didn’t have a set style in mind which made it both fun and frustrating. Fun because she was open to any style, frustrating because there were TOO many styles! After trying on many gowns and visiting quite a few shops she and her mom finally went down to Pasadena to visit Lovely Bride and found the perfect dress there. The North Gown by Lovers Society had so many elements she immediately loved, including long sleeves showcasing the with bold texture and design of the lace. Kate said it was love at first sight for both herself and her mom, they both new instantly it was THE dress.
Kate + Danny loved Collins Ranch from the moment they set eyes on it because it was so unique in comparison to other venues in the area. The property had all the elements of Ojai Kate loved from her childhood and she was captivated by the weaving road through golden fields that lead up to the open air barn. With each side of the barn opening up to take in the scenic view, Kate + Danny loved the feeling of dining in nature with all their guests and it added such a unique feel to the reception. From a photography perspective, we loved the property because it had so many beautiful spots for portraits! Their bridal party was super adventurous and lead the charge up a series of large boulders for some snaps. With so many lovely locations around the property, it was incredibly easy for Kate + Danny to step away during sunset for some epic golden hour photos.
After being toasted by friends and family, Kate and a few of her siblings sang one of their favorite folk songs for the crowd, dedicating it to their parents. As their harmonies soared out and above the hills, everyone was moved to tears by the blend of these soulful voices singing a tribute to their parents. The performance was incredibly steeped with emotion because Kate would be leaving her close knit family when she moved out to Virginia after the wedding.
