With friends traveling all the way from Australia and beyond, and an epic party, made for one beautiful destination wedding at Olowalu Plantation House. Kristen grew up with fond memories of family trips to Maui, so it felt like the perfect place to tie the knot. Because they’re currently living in Australia, Kristen + Alex didn’t get to see their venue in person until THE DAY OF THEIR WEDDING. Crazy, right?! They entrusted their planning to Christy, of In Bloom Hawaii, who took care of everything in Maui throughout the entire process and made sure they were able to relax and enjoy every little detail. The entire crowd was so dedicated to celebrating Kristen + Alex that no one was fazed when a quick tropical rain showered the reception. People threw napkins over their heads and sat under the awning, enjoying the photo booth and the open bar. After the rain quickly passed, we took Kristen + Alex out for some last portraits as the evening began. Sneaking away for some portraits before the sun sets is such a wonderful way to reconnect with one another after a few hours of celebrating with family and friends. The party continued as the dance floor opened with a gorgeous choreographed first dance, followed by everyone mobbing the dance floor and jamming late into the night.
Because Kristen, Alex, and all of their guests traveled from so far away, they chose to celebrate their wedding the entire weekend, beginning with a relaxed, oceanside rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding. The day after their wedding, they invited everyone over for a casual brunch. Many of their guests chose to tack on a quick Hawaiian vacation the week after the wedding, which is such a fabulous idea!
